Abu Dhabi, UAE – The World Golf Awards is a leading organization dedicated to recognizing and rewarding excellence in the golf tourism industry. The year’s best golf organizations were revealed at the 10th annual ceremony in Abu Dhabi.
Australian golf legend and designer Greg Norman was honored as Golf Course Architect of the Year. The Serapong Course at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore was honored as the “World’s Best Golf Course”.
Portugal excelled as the ‘World’s Best Golf Destination’ and the Quinta do Lago – South Course in The Algarve was named ‘Best Golf Course in Europe’. Dunas Golf Course and Terras da Comporta received two Best Newcomer awards in the ‘Best New Golf Course in Europe’ and ‘Best New Golf Course in the World’ categories respectively. The course is located in the heart of the city of Terras da Comporta.
Apes Hills Barbados, with its lush tropical landscapes and breathtaking coastal views, was voted “World’s Best Eco-Friendly Golf Facility” and “Best Golf Course in the Caribbean”. “LIV Golf Adelaide was named ‘Golf Tournament of the Year’ and LIV Golf won the ‘World’s Best Golf Innovation Award’.
National winners included Trump International Golf Links, named ‘Best Golf Course in Scotland’. The Belfry was named ‘Best Golf Hotel in England’ and The Brabazon was voted ‘Best Golf Course in England’.
This year’s World Golf Awards proved to be a global gathering of the global golf industry, with golf industry leaders and celebrities traveling from all over the world to attend. The awards ceremony at the Radisson Blu Hotel on Yas Island marked the culmination of a golfing itinerary that included the World Golf Awards Classic at the Yas Links Golf Course on Yas Island, the first true links golf course in the Middle East.
