George talked about what it’s like to face Curry on defense in the latest episode of his podcast.
He said, “The season that just ended, against Curry, he put up 50 points. But before that game started, I actually thought I could lock him down. I thought I could use my height and arm length to disrupt him, and I would try to squeeze through those coverages.”
However, it didn’t go as George expected. He continued, “But really, whatever our game plan was, it started not working around the middle of the first quarter. Coach started reminding me, George, you can’t play defense on him like that.”
George candidly admitted on the show that defending against a star like Curry is a challenging task, and that even when the other team knows they’ll be under the spotlight, they can still play well in key moments, which makes it that much harder to deal with.
